WinZip – Zip UnZip Tool Review
WinZip is a file manager with a built-in archiver for Android that can unpack archives, edit their contents, or create new ones. With it you can handle ZIP files, as well as any other files, and connect to remote network devices. The app is available for virtually any platform.
User Interface & Navigation
As you run the app, it looks like a regular file manager. In fact, it is a fully-fledged file manager with archiving feature as a bonus. Last but not least, it can access network resources via SMB protocol. Just as well it lets you access the contents of your phone from a PC. All the actions are completed the regular way, via short and long taps (or 3D Touch).
The thing is that it can handle archives just like regular folders, so you can enter them, add or remove files, and rearrange them. With it, you can also send files via mail, set pictures as wallpapers, delete and rename files, and so on.
It also lets you access cloud services, like Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, its own ZipShare cloud service, and local network drives. Built-in tools include Clean Photo (a duplicate and screenshot remover) and Access from PC (a server for remote access).
Convenience of Use
Designed as a regular file manager, it looks very similar to built-in ones on Android and (recently) iOS, and thus familiar to most users.
The app displays ads in the bottom of the screen. Not that they are much of an obstacle. If they do irritate you, though, you can purchase the Pro version for $0.99. It also lets you encrypt your archives.
It’s the official WinZip client. Despite the name originally reserved for the Windows version, now it’s available for Android and iOS, as well as for Windows and Mac. Any tool is quite a standalone one, though there is some level of integration. For example, you can control your Android WinZip app from PC.
