PDF Viewer & Book Reader Review
PDF Viewer & Book Reader is just what it says on the tin. With this app, you can open PDF files, as well as EPUB, FB2, DJVU, and some other formats. It also offers a very flexible view and navigation settings.
User Interface & Navigation
A built-in file manager lets you access all the books on your device. You just need to allow it to access your SD card; if you wish, you can also let it access the internal memory. The file browser looks very regular and easy.
As for navigation within books, it’s adjustable. You can set up tap zones, scrolling mode, view, fonts, and so on. A built-in search lets you easily access particular books. There is also a bookmark feature.
As the name assumes, the game can handle PDF files and e-books in various formats, like EPUB, FB2, DJVU, CBZ and others. For each of these formats you can apply its specific settings, like font family, rendering mode, DPI, and so on. Alas, MOBI is not supported.
It can also connect to cloud services like Google Drive, Amazon Drive (the best storage for e-books), or Dropbox, so books from this app are easily shared to other devices. A pleasant bonus is access to Telegram downloads folder if you have Telegram installed and any books downloaded. In theory, OPDS catalogues are supported, but there is no special browser tab for them.
Convenience of Use
Though the app looks quite basic, it has enough options to provide comfortable reading. Its built-in file browser can access all the files you allow it to. You don’t have to use any external apps to access books.
The app is only available for Android. On the other hand, it’s compatible with Android 4.1 and above, while the official Adobe Reader, say, requires at least 5.0.
So for older devices, it’s real salvation. For older devices it may be useful if you adjust the app’s performance manually, so even on older and weaker hardware, it performs better.
