PDF Reader & PDF Viewer – eBook Reader, PDF Editor is the app that does exactly what it says in the name. It’s a versatile tool for reading PDF documents and most ebook formats, with basic editing features.
As you open the app, it displays a virtual bookshelf with covers of the books it can handle. It usually scans the default folder, but you can specify those you use to store books and docs. At the top, there are icons for file manager and built-in market, featuring other apps by the same developer or affiliated ones.
Its settings include an independent brightness adjuster and specific formatting settings for various file types. All of them are available under one icon, easy to figure out.
Being a good reader requires a little: correct rendering of pages, using as little resource as possible to work smooth. It’s all here in the app with such a generic name.
Its list of supported file formats includes EPUB, CBR, DJVU, FB2, but not MOBI. No wonder: it’s designed in China where the Amazon bookstore is not that popular when compared to local ones.
The app is, in fact, a modernized version of another app with a similar name. It works correctly on fresh devices, has a decent file browser, and uses the might of today’s devices to open even large files quickly. The bookshelf view is quite useful. The only irritation is caused by ads that appear at the bottom and sometimes pop up. One has to become a subscriber to get rid of these ads.
The app is only designed for Android. It requires at least Android 4.1, and so it’s a better option for devices running Android 4.1 to 4.4 that cannot get Adobe Acrobat Reader. Alas, it cannot boast cloud support. Though OPDS settings page can be found in general settings, there is no OPDS browser to be found (or it’s only available for Chinese users).
To download the app, you will get links to the Official Website and/or official digital markets.
